Try Orlando’s Best Chocolate Chip Cookie at Disney Springs

Everyone loves to indulge in sweets now and then, and what better time to go all out than when you are on summer vacation? Orlando has plenty of glitzy desserts that tempt your taste buds as well as your Instagram feed. Mammoth candy-coated milkshakes and double scoop doughnut ice cream sandwiches are a few of your options. But sometimes, nothing can beat that classic dessert – the chocolate chip cookie. Before you settle for visiting the first Orlando bakery your Google search result yields, wait. Take a deep breath. This is your vacation, after all, and nothing but the best will do. Today, you’re going to have the best chocolate chip cookie in whole state of Florida.

The Best Chocolate Chip Cookie in Florida (and Possibly the World)

All the world’s greatest chocolate chip cookies have a few things in common: they are soft and chewy but not overly so, they have the right ratio of chocolate chips to vanilla dough, and they are comfortingly simple. The cookies at Gideon’s Bakehouse meet all of these delicious requirements and more, but you don’t have to take our word for it. Foodie websites The Daily Meal and Delish named Gideon’s Bakehouse cookies the best in Florida. TravelPulse declared them the best cookies on Earth. The cookies are in such demand that Gideon’s Bakehouse limits customers to 6 cookies each. These chocolate chip cookies are:

  • Warm and doughy, without tasting raw
  • Chocolate chip encrusted and sprinkled with sea salt
  • An impressive half pound of rich, buttery goodness (yes, a half-pound cookie)

Are you ready for yours?

Where to Find Gideon’s Cookies

Fortunately for us all, Gideon’s Bakehouse chocolate chip cookies are now available in two locations:

Gideon’s Bakehouse at East End Market

This location gave rise to Gideon’s Bakehouse. Visit for the nostalgia, stay for the sweets. Once you try the classic chocolate chip, you might want to try other popular flavors like pistachio toffee dark chocolate and cookies & cream. Gideon’s Bakehouse also sell pies, cakes, and coffee drinks, in case you want to stray from the cookies, but why would you?

The Polite Pig at Disney Springs

If you prefer not to drive across town, hop over to The Polite Pig at Disney Springs. Don’t get distracted by the smell of barbeque as you enter; remember, you’re here for cookies. Ask for the Gideon’s cookies and the staff will hand you the cookies you desire. Currently only the chocolate chip variety are available here, but we’re not complaining.

When to Eat Gideon’s Cookies

You may be thinking, “whenever I please,” and you’d be right. But, with a half-pound cookie, there are some considerations which should be taken into account. Much like you’d prep for a decadent buffet, eating a Gideon’s Bakehouse cookie requires some planning. You don’t want to be too full but you don’t want to starve yourself beforehand, either. Comfy pants are a must. Grab extra napkins because all those glorious chocolate chips can and will make a mess. Smart cookies know not to eat these outside or store leftovers in a purse because the Florida heat will melt the chocolate almost instantaneously.

Are there any times when you should absolutely, definitely eat this cookie masterpiece? Yes, on National Chocolate Chip Cookie Day, which falls on August 4 and happens to align perfectly with summer vacation. It’s truly the best way to honor the creation of the magnificent chocolate chip cookie. As you savor each morsel, take a moment to thank Ruth Graves Wakefield, inventor of the chocolate chip cookie (and of the chocolate chip). Were it not for her culinary contributions long ago, the cookie you are holding in your hand today would have been nothing more than a passing daydream.

Stay Minutes from Disney Springs

Now that you’ve got a half pound of cookie dough in your tummy, you probably don’t feel much like moving, and that’s okay. You’re on vacation, after all.
