Orlando City Soccer May Schedule
Orlando City plays five marquee matches this month, with each one against a notable name or a new face to the league. Check out the dates and times below to see if you’ll be in town for an exciting soccer matchup.
Home vs. Toronto FC
Saturday, May 4 | 4:00pm
Toronto didn’t exactly have the best season last year, but they look poised to rebound quite well this year. A few changes in the supporting cast behind star players Michael Bradley, Sebastian Giovinco, and Jozy Altidore seem to have this team in prime position to make a playoff run this year after missing out last season.
Away at Atlanta United
Sunday, May 12 | 2:00pm
Atlanta are the current MLS Cup champions, lifting the trophy after last year’s successful campaign—only their second in the MLS! Orlando and Atlanta have something of a rivalry brewing after a few hotly contested matches in recent years. This trip to play the champions on their home turf could prove a tough test for the Lions.
Away at Seattle Sounders
Wednesday, May 15 | 10:30pm
The second leg of this mid-month road trip won’t be much easier for Orlando City, as they travel to face the Seattle Sounders: perennial playoff team consistently sitting atop the standings in the Western conference year after year. Seattle seems ready to make another playoff push this year as they return much of the same team that won them 18 matches and 59 points last year, good for fourth overall in the league.
Home vs. FC Cincinnati
Sunday, May 19 | 5:00pm
FC Cincinnati is the newest expansion franchise to be added to the MLS, first being announced back in May of 2018. It is tough to predict their potential based on the success or failure of recent expansion teams. Orlando City and NYCFC have both been middling in their early years, whereas Atlanta United was best in the league in only their second year after joining. This is a team that we will have to wait to see in person before passing any judgment.
Home vs. LA Galaxy
Friday, May 24 | 4:00pm
The LA Galaxy have been a fairly middle-of-the-pack team despite boasting several stars with experience from leagues around the world. This is a great match to attend if you want to see the likes of Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Giovani Dos Santos in action as they try to bring LA back to the playoffs.
