OCCC Events in March 2020

Orlando is more than theme parks and world-class shopping. It’s also home to year-round conventions, meetings, and competitions. March is absolutely no exception. As basketball gears up with its March Madness, cheering comes to a maddening roar in Orlando. Check out these massive cheerleading and dance competitions at the Orange County Convention Center (OCCC) with medical and construction industry events and one massive boating expo in between.
Sunshine Volleyball Classic
March 3 – 6, 2020 | North/South Concourse
It’s back! The annual event of the year for competitive volleyball teams is in Orlando once again. This event, a stay to play national qualifier, will host the following teams to play: Teal 18, 17, 16, 15, 14, 13, and Black 17. More than 20,000 players, supporters, families, friends, and fans attend the yearly event.
American Open Cheer
March 7 – 8, 2020 | South Concourse
Polynesian Paradise is this cheer event’s theme. In this open to the public event, you’ll find competitions for All-Star Cheer, All-Star Novice and PREP Cheer, All-Star Hip-Hop Dance, and Rec Cheer. Bids offered at American Open Cheer include The Cheerleading Worlds, The Summit, The DII Summit, and The Quest. This event sees upwards of 7,400 cheerleaders and attendees.
HIMSS Global Conference & Exhibition
March 9 – 12, 2020 | West Concourse
The Health Information and Management Systems Society conference will descend onto Orlando with a world of information to improve healthcare systems and overall care. This closed event offers over 300 seminars, 19 hours of Continuing Education, networking sessions, an expo, and a gala party at Universal Studios where you’ll have exclusive access to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, Diagon Alley, TRANSFORMERS: the Ride 3D, and the Fast & Furious – Supercharged. Keynote speakers include Alex Rodriguez. (Yes, that Alex, the 3-time MVP, 14-time All-Star, and 2009 World Series Champion with the New York Yankees.) Grainger Show
March 15 – 19, 2020 | North/South Concourse
This closed event is only open to current Grainger customers who received invites. If you are a customer and haven’t received your invite, contact your Grainger account representatives for an invite. This trade show features more than 600 suppliers, a series of seminars and accredited training, and evening receptions and celebrations. More than 13,000 attend this yearly event.
AmeriCheer AmeriDance InterNationals 2020
March 21 – 22, 2020 | West Concourse
Another cheer and dance competition comes to Orlando. This closed competition’s schedule is sent to coaches three weeks prior to the competition. What is known at the time of writing is all dance categories, school/rec flat mat divisions, game day divisions, and all spring floor divisions will compete on Saturday. All spring floor divisions and all school and rec flat mat divisions will compete again on Sunday. During the wait, review the packages for adequate access for your cheerleaders, dancers, family, and personal cheer section. There will be a special sale of discounted Universal Orlando Resort passes that can get you into one, two, or all three theme parks and for single or multiple days.
American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons 2020 Annual Meeting
March 25 – 27, 2020 | West Concourse
The annual meeting of orthopaedic surgeons convenes to share their latest experiences and research. More than 250 topics will be discussed through various styles of presentations to accommodate different learning styles. The latest product launches, new research, and emerging technologies in this field of medicine will be on display in the expo hall. There’s a lot covered during this annual meeting, so organizers invite potential attendees to study their annual meeting guide. With an expected draw of 30,000 attendees to this closed event, you’ll want to carefully plan for this event.
Orlando Boat Show
March 27 – 29, 2020 | North Concourse
For three days, the North Concourse opens its doors to all the latest models of boats for nautical sport and leisure. If you’re interested in buying a boat, visit to be paired with the right boat for your needs. Walk through a massive display of more than 500 boats and water vehicles, such as jet skis. Serious inquiries only—these boats are for sale. Bring the family to test out which boat fits the crew. There will be boat-friendly activities such as fishing (for both kids and adults) as well as tips for serious anglers for freshwater and deep sea. 4,000 are expected to attend, so get your tickets early.
All Star Challenge
March 28 – 29, 2020 | West Concourse
March cheering madness ends with a collision of sports and theater. Orlando’s theme is Queen of the Nile. Competing teams are expected to dazzle judges and audiences with high-octane attitude and gymnastics with the theatrics to captivate attention and lead them through a story. Can you say #SquadGoals?
