Lakeridge Winery & Vineyards Summerfest Grape Stomp
“Bring the family and do the purple foot dance”
Summer weather in Florida lends well to all sorts of outdoor activities. Beaches and theme parks usually top most to-do lists for visitors, but there are plenty of other activities that should be on the radar — like the locally famous Summer Grape Stomp.
Every year, Lakeridge Winery & Vineyards puts their unique spin on summer in Central Florida, inviting thousands of people to their 127-acre estate for a weekend of purple-footed fun at the Summer Grape Stomp. The festival features live music, food courts, wine and beer bars, and of course, grape stomping. Here’s everything you need to know about the 2020 Summer Grape Stomp.
Grape Stomping Competitions
Grape stomping, if you are unfamiliar, is exactly what it sounds like yet so much more fun than you imagine it to be. The satisfying squish beneath your feet has plenty of names, from “the crush” and “punch-down” to my personal favorite, the “purple foot two step.” No matter what you call it, you can’t beat that feeling between your toes. If you are particularly good at it, you can even compete against others at Summerfest for a shot at winning some prizes.
If stomping on some grapes isn’t your cup of tea, you can still have a great time enjoying the delicious food and drink and play some outdoor games while you soak up the summer sun. Lakeridge Winery offers plenty of drink options—primarily wine, but also beer and soft drinks, as well as all kinds of food, from American and Mexican staples to seafood and even some Greek dishes.
While plenty of attendees come to Lakeridge Winery throughout the year, a lot of visitors flock to the vineyards specifically for this grape stomping event. Also known as “the crush,” “punch-down,” and “purple footed two-step,” grape stomping is simply the act of stomping grapes with your feet. If you are particularly good at it, you can compete against others at the festival for a shot at winning some exclusive event prizes.
Fine Wine and Food Varieties
Fortunately, you don’t have to get involved in grape stomping to get the full Lakeridge experience. You can still have a great time enjoying the delicious, full-service spread or playing some outdoor games while you soak up the summer sun. Lakeridge Winery offers plenty of drink options — primarily wine — including beer and soft drinks. The winery is also serving up all kinds of food for the festival, from American and Mexican staples to exotic seafood and Greek dishes.
