Happily Ever After & EPCOT Forever Fireworks Return in 2023
Throughout spring 2023, the sky above Walt Disney World will enchant parkgoers with familiar sights and sounds.
Happily Ever After and EPCOT Forever have returned to Magic Kingdom and EPCOT, respectively. In late 2021, the two fireworks shows made way for special 50th-anniversary spectaculars. But now that Walt Disney World is firmly in its 51st year, they are back and better than ever.
Here’s everything you need to know about Happily Ever After and EPCOT Forever.
Happily Ever After
Happily Ever After first sprinkled an extra helping of pixie dust on Cinderella’s Castle in 2017.
The show touches on common themes in Disney movies, like friendship, romance, and achieving your dreams.
As fireworks and lasers illuminate the night sky, classic scenes are projected onto the castle. Moana paddling out to sea. Tarzan’s ape friends trashing Jane’s campsite. Aladdin’s Genie emerging from his lamp. Rapunzel and Flynn Rider falling in love.
As the fireworks show draws to a close, the characters achieve all they ever wanted and encourage the audience to do the same.

While the fireworks display will largely stay the same in 2023, theme park guests can expect to be wowed by the new visual effects sprinkled throughout Happily Ever After.
EPCOT Forever
In mid-2023, Walt Disney World guests can also enjoy the dazzling display that is EPCOT Forever.
The fireworks show starts with one little spark setting off as the theme song from Journey Into Imagination with Figment plays. The soundtrack then pays tribute to fan-favorite EPCOT rides like Spaceship Earth and Soarin’. Beloved bygone attractions like Horizons and Universe of Energy also get a shout-out.
EPCOT Forever fans should find their spot at the World Showcase as soon as they can. The rebooted show will be around for a limited time.
That’s because Disney has another anniversary on the horizon. In fall 2023, the Walt Disney Company will turn 100. To celebrate one century of transforming the animation and theme park industries, EPCOT will unveil a new fireworks display later this year.
Tips for Seeing Disney Fireworks
Disney’s fireworks typically start around 9 p.m., right before the parks close.
These shows are wildly popular, so it’s good to have a game plan. Earlier in the day, take a stroll past Cinderella’s Castle or the World Showcase Lagoon and scope out a few watching spots. About 45 minutes before the show starts, grab a snack (or your favorite EPCOT cocktail) and set up camp.
While you wait, reflect on your day, plan the following day’s adventure, or check out the games on the Play Disney Parks app.
