Get Wild at Disney’s Animal Kingdom

Any day spent at Disney’s Animal Kingdom can be a great one, but a trip on the park’s birthday combined with the global holiday celebrating the park’s ethos can deliver a very special experience.

You can experience animal encounters all over the park, from Asian tigers at the Maharajah Jungle Trek, to African Elephants during the Kilimanjaro Safaris.

Throughout these, you’ll also learn about the Disney Conservation Fund which focuses its energy, both manually and financially, to protect the natural world against threats. This is the perfect opportunity to teach you loved ones, that conservation begins with the small steps you take in day-to-day life.

Be ready to brace the crowds as the celebration brings tons of guests out to commemorate the day through the magic of nature.

Enjoy Lunch at Garden Grill

This planet continuously provides for us, and a meal at Garden Grill Restaurant located inside of EPCOT will reinforce that. This all-you-care-to-enjoy, family-style dining experience features tons of veggies that are grown right in their greenhouses.

While you indulge in your farm-fresh meals, you’re simultaneously rotating in a full circle with unique views of the Living with the Land attraction. You’re able to wave at other guests and create exclusive memories.

This location is also a character-dining experience. As you stuff your face with delicious homegrown foods, Chip ‘n’ Dale in their harvest outfits will come to your table to say hi. You’ll also get a chance to meet some of their Disney pals, maybe even one that rhymes with Rickey Rouse.

Go Backstage for the Behind the Seeds Tour

Living with the Land is a gentle boat ride through EPCOT’s greenhouses and a great way to appreciate our planet’s bountiful crops.

To get an even deeper understanding of how Disney pushes the future of agriculture, book the Behind the Seeds tour.

Here, you’ll walk backstage and get up-close and personal with the fish farm and the 4 greenhouses located in The Land Pavilion. Led by an experienced tour guide, you’ll learn how the crops are grown and cared for using future-based technology.

This fun one-hour experience is perfect for the whole family. Seeing the process may give everyone a better appreciation of the food provided by this planet.

A great teaching moment on Earth Day.

Be Inspired by “Awesome Planet”

While in The Land Pavilion, you can watch a beautiful 10-minute film titled "Awesome Planet.” This story takes you on a journey across the globe to showcase how incredible nature is. It also shows the destructiveness humans bring to it.

You’ll leave this film feeling inspired to protect and prioritize caring for our one and only planet. This film is a great reminder of what Earth Day is all about.

Why We Celebrate

Earth Day, an annual global event celebrated on April 22, honors our planet and redefines the necessary commitments to keep it healthy.

The first Earth Day back in 1970 sparked serious change in the U.S., which lead to the creation of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). As the movement continued to grow, more ways to appreciate the natural world became increasingly popular. Including Disney’s Animal Kingdom, which opened on Earth Day, April 22, 1998.
