Attend the Morimoto Asia Sakura Festival at Disney Springs
Celebrate springtime at the Morimoto Asia Sakura Festival in Disney Springs. Inspired by the hanami celebrations in Japan, the festival showcases sakura (cherry blossoms), by incorporating them into the décor and a limited edition menu at Morimoto Asia. In addition to these specialty dishes, the month-long festival in Orlando includes separately ticketed events that highlight Japanese drinks, food, and festival fun.
Libations and Light Bites
The festival starts strong with several drink tasting events in Orlando. The inaugural event, a tasting event at the Crooked Can Brewing Company located in downtown Winter Garden, takes place on March 15. Sample Sakura Kolsch, an ale brewed with cherry blossoms available exclusively at Morimoto, along with delicious Asian hors d’oeuvres.
On the following weekend, Morimoto Asia’s Forbidden Lounge in Disney Springs hosts an evening cocktail event. Featuring a sampling of Japanese whiskey-based cocktails, lite bites, and music by DJ Jimmy Joslin, the evening will be a true treat for all the senses.
If you prefer to pair your drinks with a side of knowledge be sure to purchase tickets for Taste from the Seas of Japan. At this event on March 30, the top sushi chefs at Morimoto Asia will share insight about the varieties and traditional process of breaking down the fresh fish delivered from Japan, while you sample sake.
A Feast for Foodies
If small plates and hors d’oeuvres won’t satisfy your hunger, attend the Morimoto Asia’s Guest Chef Series on Tuesday, April 3. You’ll indulge in a six-course Pan-Asian dinner created by guest chef Hitoshi Sugiura and top chefs at Morimoto. Chef Hitoshi is the executive chef at Patinastella in Tokyo and was recently honored as one of the Top 8 Chef at Italy’s 2017 Vegetarian Chance competition.
In addition to the dinner, foodies will definitely want to attend the sakura festival’s ramen seminar on April 8. Not only will you get to sample various ramen dishes, you’ll also learn about the various types of Asian noodles, how they are made, and some of the best ways to prepare them.
The Morimoto Asia Sakura Festival concludes on April 15 with an afternoon festival the whole family will enjoy. Inspired by the many traditional festivals in Japan, this matsuri (festival) celebrates Japanese culture and traditions. Entertainment includes shuffleboard, giveaways, origami, and calligraphy. Morimoto Asia has also partnered with Uniqlo, a popular Japanese clothing company, to provide extra entertainment and interactive fun. Of course, there will be plenty of food and drink as well, including street food, beer, and cocktails.
